Introduction
What Brand Peel is, what it creates, and how local projects work with cloud AI.
Introduction
This documentation covers how to create, refine, prototype, and export a brand identity in Brand Peel.
What is Brand Peel?
Brand Peel is a local-first desktop app for building a brand identity through conversation with AI. Instead of starting from a blank page, you describe your product, audience, and goals. Brand Peel helps turn that context into strategy documents, a visual theme, prototypes, and image assets you can refine in one workspace.
Your working project stays on your device. Brand documents, chat history, themes, generated image files, and Design Sandbox sessions are saved in Brand Peel's local data directory and are not automatically synced as cloud projects.
Local-first does not mean every feature runs offline. When you use an AI feature, Brand Peel sends the prompt and the context needed for that request—such as selected attachments, brand context, or a source image—through the Brand Peel service to its AI providers. The service also keeps account, subscription, device-proof, usage, and operational generation records. Image-generation records can include the prompt, model, provider, usage, and result status. Your complete project workspace and generated asset files remain local and under your control.
What you can create
- Brand Identity document — mission, vision, values, audience, and voice
- Visual Identity document — color, typography, and design direction
- Brand Guidelines — logo usage and practical consistency rules
- Design Theme — editable light and dark colors, typography, radius, shadows, and reusable design tokens
- Logo Directions & Images — concepts and generated visual assets stored with the local project
- Design Sandbox Prototypes — branded websites, emails, PDFs, mobile screens, terminal interfaces, and 3D scenes
How it works
- Create or open a project — the project becomes the local home for its documents, theme, assets, and prototypes
- Chat with the AI — describe your product, audience, goals, and visual direction, with optional image or text attachments
- Review the documents — edit, regenerate, and accept the Brand Identity, Visual Identity, and Brand Guidelines
- Prototype in Design Sandbox — use the current project context to explore websites, emails, PDFs, mobile screens, terminal interfaces, or 3D scenes at any stage
- Finish setup — accepting all three documents lets you mark the local project complete and unlock the Resource Generator; the Design Editor is available once the project has a theme
- Refine and generate — tune the theme in the Design Editor and create final image assets in the Resource Generator
- Export a snapshot — export available documents as Markdown, the theme as CSS and JSON, and non-rejected project logos as PNG files
AI chat, document and theme generation, Design Sandbox generations and revisions, and image generation draw from your credits or plan quotas. Reading and editing local files, browsing History, and exporting do not consume AI usage.
