Configuration
Configure appearance, app updates, speech, licenses, and local-data access.
Configuration
Open Settings > Customization in the sidebar to configure the desktop interface, updates, and text-to-speech. The separate Info section contains third-party licenses and local-data access.
Appearance
Choose one of three interface modes:
- Light — always use the light app interface
- Dark — always use the dark app interface
- System — follow the operating system's current preference
This setting changes Brand Peel's interface. It does not change the active project's light or dark design tokens in the Design Editor.
App updates
Brand Peel checks releases for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Choose the channel that matches how early you want to receive a build:
| Channel | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Stable | Regular releases; prerelease versions are excluded |
| Beta | Preview releases with moderate stability |
| Alpha | The earliest previews, with frequent changes |
The update panel shows the current version, selected channel, latest matching version, and release notes when available. Select Check now to bypass the short update-check cache.
When a compatible update is available:
- Select the download action for the resolved package
- Brand Peel downloads the file into its updates directory
- The app verifies the platform, architecture, package type, expected byte size, and SHA-256 checksum from the release metadata
- Open the verified Windows installer or macOS DMG, or reveal the Linux update file
For Linux x64, the preferred update is an AppImage. Linux arm64 uses the portable archive. Brand Peel marks a verified AppImage executable before revealing it.
Text to Speech
Brand Peel uses the operating system's Web Speech voices to read AI chat responses aloud. Configure:
- Voice — choose from the voices currently installed on the system
- Speed — from 0.5× to 2×
- Pitch — from 0.5× to 2×
Use the speaker button on an AI response to start reading and the stop button to stop. The voice, speed, and pitch are stored locally for later sessions.
If the list is empty or does not contain the language you need, install another speech or language pack through the operating system and reopen the settings view.
Workspace shortcuts
Shortcuts are scoped to the workspace that implements them:
| Workspace | Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Brand Creator or Design Sandbox composer | Enter | Send the current request |
| Brand Creator or Design Sandbox composer | Shift+Enter | Insert a line break |
| Design Sandbox artifact editor | Ctrl/Cmd+Z | Undo a manual structure edit |
